De_Splinter
My first CS: Source map. Its a re-make of my old CS 1.6 map "de_splinter_clan" which was pretty popular mostly because of the layout.

This is not a straight-to-source conversion. I completely re-made the map. Added a new, better layout scheme and used displacements to make the underground caverns much more interesting.

The bot nav took 47mins to generate, but was definately worth it in my opinion. They play a good game. The only problem with the map that i have found, is the bots occasionally flal off one of the ladders. Not a major problem.

Pretty good. A few things bugged me though.

The displacements outside looked like they weren't aligned right, or something. You could see the lines where the different displacements start.(Talking about the snow ground outside.) Also the outside could have used a 3D skybox or some sort of scenery over the mountains, to give a scence of reality, rather than just stop abruptly. I don't know if there is a blend snow texture, but it there is you should of used it on the mountains instead of the one you have now.

The inside architecture was alright. You could of used more diverse textures on the walls to give another scence of reality; or at least some decals/overlays.

I liked the detail you put in the inside like the env_sprites on the lights. It seemed like you put more detail on the inside of the map more than the outside though.

All in all it is a good map. Extraordinary for a first map. (Although you mapped on the HL 1 engine prior) Good job!

It isn't his 'first' Source map either...
I played it with him and you have a point...I forgot to suggest he needs a 3D skybox and I told him those mountains looked odd however he likes them like that so...

The detail is pretty good but not gob-smacking.

Anyway 4/5 because it does play well, detail is average but I don't see anything inside it that stands out.

I don't have Cs:s but you should change the pic. I know it's not like that but from the pic it just looks like one of those boxes with many crates in it.

It was a bit big, which made it a little confusing. Add a few more clues as to which way you go. Some of the areas were lacking detail. There was some bot trouble at the ladders. Definitly one of the better bomb maps. Also I didn't get to try it with actual people so take that into consideration. Overall an easy 4/5. Nice map.

Well I agree with most of the comments, just a few things I'd like to add..

The bomb targets. What I missed in the CS:S and the 1.6 versions was the unrealistic bomb target exploding. None of the wooden crates/APCs weren't even scratched, when the bomb exploded. You could have at least added some fire sprites, or something like that.

Detail. As mentioned before - most of the areas lacked detail. The APC garages could have had some tools lying around, parhaps some control panels/monitors, wires on the floor too. The office area also needed more props. Adding some chairs/magazines/food near the wooden coffee table would've been great.

Ambience. Since the outside has a snowy theme - you could have added some wind gust sounds, combined with snowy fog (to make an impression of a snow storm).

Overall - the map looked pretty good, I liked the architecture and texturing. I also liked the blend from the orange-ish interior, to the white-ish exterior lighting.
I'll have to agree with the others. 4 stars it is.

Well, I didn't like this map very well.
The outside displacements looked a bit weird.
The mountain sides wasn't very,, um, mountainious and you could at bombsite a (?) stand ontop of a crate and see the nodrawtextured top of a peice of mountain.

What I did like was the inside.
It was filled with fun stuff and small halls etc, fun fun!

Outside: 2.5/5
Inside: 3.5/5

The inside was a bit empty at some spaces but really, I loved it.

I recall playing this map on a TWHL CSS server (ZLs server wich he shut down perhaps?) and the gameplay was fun. :)

2.5 + 3.5 = 6
6/2 = 3.
3 stars it is.

Forgot to rate..
Not 3 stars btw, but 4 (3.5) mostly because of the cool inside.
